As most people now know it is very difficult for people to find a job if they do not already have one. I was in this boat as well and I was going on three months unemployed when I decided it was time to get proactive in finding a job. I decided to go online to see what all the buzz was about regarding online job sites. A manufacturing job was far from my first career choice. But it seemed like a good option and you never really know until you try so I went ahead and started. I have worked in many facets of manufacturing and I can tell you it is more fulfilling than I ever could have expected. When people ask me what I do I say proudly I make things. I make things, like so few people do anymore. I turn steel into cars, maybe one day I will make other things. But for now I get a sense of pride and joy when I see one of my companies cars on the road. I helped build that, while the rest of you were sitting at desks. And if I ever lose or quit this job, I think I will take another factory job. Because it means everything to me to know that my work can be picked up and felt, it can be driven. Whether the world knows it or not, I know, and that’s good enough for me.
